Cocktail in the City - One Waan Thai

One Waan - Sign
Mijo and I recently had an enjoyable happy hour at this Thai Cafe in the city's Glen Park neighborhood called One Waan.

Their cocktails are refreshing, innovative and the appetizers went perfectly with them. We'll definitely be back.

Cocktails in the City - Tap 415

Tap 415 - Sign
After having a long day at work, both Mijo and I decided to meet up at Tap 415 under the dome of the SF Mall.

This place has been our go to place for a quick bite and cocktails because of their creative cocktails and central location.

Thai Food in the City - Dinner and Drinks at Saap Ver

Saap Ver - Menu designMijo and I have recently been to a newly opened Thai restaurant in the SOMA neighborhood of the city.  Saap Ver is on Division St. and serves great authentic country style Thai food.

Good cocktails, great food and a bonus live entertainment after the dinner rush hour. We loved it. We will definitely go back.

Museum in the City - Friday Nights at the De Young and the Boticelli to Braque exhibition

Friday Nights at the De Young Museum - Sign by roland luistro, on FlickrArt and alcohol on a Friday night? Oh yeah. It happens at San Francisco's De Young Museum.

Mijo and I went there on Friday and we were in for a treat. There was a special exhibition called Boticelli to Braque Masterpieces from the National Galleries of Scotland and live music. The best way to spend Friday nights!

Cocktails in the City - TAP (415)

Tap 415 - Tap water by roland luistro, on Flickr
Mijo and I went to TAP415 twice last month while on break from the maddening Holiday shopping rush that engulfs Union Square every year.

We just wanted to break from the crowd but we discovered a new place to go for drinks. We like the cocktails at TAP415 and the food they serve with the drinks!

Cocktails in the City - Brasserie S&P at The Mandarin Oriental

Brasserie S&P - SignFor our Happy Hour Thursday, we sampled the cocktails at the Brasserie S&P at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in downtown San Francisco.

This place has short list but great selections of mixed drinks and the service is topnotch. Perfect for catching up with friends.

Cocktails in the Peninsula - Puerto 27 Peruvian Kitchen and Pisco Bar

Cocktails in the City - Puerto 27 pisco sour classicoWe've been having great weather lately. When I say great weather, I mean no fog. Summer in San Francisco is normally cold because of the fog or the thick marine layer.

I came home from work one Wednesday evening and there was no fog. Mijo suggested that we don't cook that evening and go somewhere close to the water. We drove south to a nearby town of Pacifica and to a restaurant called Puerto 27. Happy Hour came early that week!

Cocktails in the City - Happy Hour at El Techo de Lolinda

El Techo de Lolinda - SignWe've slowed down on happy hour recently because of work schedule related reasons. And when we do go to happy hour, the places we've been to did not have anything new in terms of drinks or overall experience except when we went to El Techo de Lolinda.

Drinks are good.  Food is good. The city views are good.

Cocktails in the City - Hog & Rocks

Hog and Rocks - CocktailsWe went to Hog & Rocks for our Thursday cocktails. The first time I saw Hog & Rocks was when we were looking for parking around the Mission District and I used to see this place packed with people on a Friday evening. It must be the cocktails, I thought to myself.

Thankfully, Hog & Rocks was next to our 'list of cocktails to try' and we went there last Thursday. They truly have good and innovative cocktails!

Cocktails in the City - Fifth Floor

Fifth Floor - Sign
Mijo, our friends Jim and Jose and I went to Fifth Floor for our once a month fancy cocktail hour. I've been there before for a dinner with another set of friends but it was the first time I went there for drinks. Both experiences are good but different.

Each one of us ordered a different drink in the beginning but all of us ended up ordering a drink called Kings Cup for the second round. I guess that was the winner that night. :)

Cocktails in the City - Bar 888

For our cocktail Thursday, the boys and I went to Bar 888 inside the Intercontinental Hotel on Howard St. I had been told before that this bar specializes on grappa-based drinks.  Of course, they also serve the more common types of cocktails.

I am not really a fan of grappa drank as shots but hearing about the grappa-based cocktails made me curious to try them.

Cocktails in the City - Tonga Room & The Hurricane Bar

If you've read a San Francisco guide book or have visited SF before, chances are you've heard about the Tonga Room at The Fairmont Hotel.

Jim, Jose, Mijo and I went to the Tonga Room for our Thursday cocktail hour. Can you believe I've never been here before? It is themed so it is on the tacky-looking side of the scale. But did I have a great time? Absolutely!

Cocktails in the City - Top of the Mark at the Mark Hopkins Hotel

Top of the Mark - CheersAs a continuation of our search for good and refreshing cocktails in the city, Mijo, Jim, Jose and I paid the Nob Hill neighborhood of the city a visit and went to the Top of the Mark at the Mark Hopkins Hotel.

Mijo and I have been to the Top of the Mark but only for Sunday brunch and never for cocktail hour. That is why we didn't have second thoughts when Jim and Jose suggested we go there for our Thursday night cocktail.

Top of the Mark is an elegant and cozy place for a pre-dinner drinks with good friends.

Cocktails in the City - Ame Bar at St. Regis

Ame Bar at St. RegisAfter seeing SF MoMA's new art exhibit called Cindy Sherman, Joe, Jim, Mijo and I went next door to St. Regis to try the cocktails at the Ame Bar.

While this is not our typical 2-for-1 neighborhood cocktail hour, the cocktails here are superb and well crafted, the service outstanding and the ambience five star!

Cocktails in the City - Beretta

Beretta - Dolores Park Sizzler + DiabloAhhhh. Thursday and the start of the weekend, at least, in my mind. Mijo and I try to welcome and celebrate the beginning of the weekend on Thursday evening. At Beretta, the plan was just a round of drinks and maybe an hors d'oeuvre. Before we even finished these delicious cocktails - Dolores Park Sizzler on the left and Diablo on the right - we were told by the hostess that she has a table for us and the next thing we know we were ordering food. We eventually stayed for over two hours. Beretta, on Valencia @ 23rd Sts, is a hip, crowded, fun place. We totally enjoyed our Thursday evening here!

Cocktails in the City - Seasons Bar and Lounge at The Four Seasons Hotel

The good thing about living in the city is the easy access to places serving good mixed drinks at the same time having good vibe.

Cocktail in the City - Lychee MartiniI've been wanting to try out the happy hour outside of our usual venues in the Castro, Mission and West Portal. Though I've had drinks at the Fifth Floor, St. Francis and the Hilton and other places, I have not been paying much attention on what I drink. So for the first time, I'll be posting my cocktails in San Francisco. Let me share you my good experience at the Seasons Bar and Lounge at The Four Seasons Hotel on Market St.
