Dumpling in the City - Kingdom of Dumpling

Kingdom of Dumpling - StorefrontMijo and I seldom go to Taraval St. in the Sunset neighborhood of the city to eat. Though we like dimsum, we seldom eat dumplings.

The stars and planets were somehow aligned one night last week and we decided to go Kingdom of Dumpling  on Taraval St. to sample, what else, dumplings.  We truly enjoyed it!

Musical in the City - The Book of Mormon

Book Of Mormom - PosterMijo and I were lucky to find limited view seats tickets to The Book of Mormon at the Orpheum Theatre last month amid the Holiday rush.

We missed seeing the musical the last time it was in San Francisco a few years ago so we made sure and prayed hard that we find tickets to this show. And we did and we liked the music, acting and energy of the production.

Everyday Coffee in the City - Bella Donovan by Blue Bottle Coffee

Blue Bottle Cofee - Bella Donovan
This week, we are sampling a very good coffee blend called Bella Donovan by Blue Bottle Coffee.

I bought this bag from Blue Bottle's Ferry Building location on my way home on New Year's Eve. They have a lot of coffee selections so I just randomly picked a bag of coffee. I got lucky because I picked a really good one.

Dining in the City - M.Y. China

M.Y. China - EntranceDuring the Holiday season, Mijo and I went for the first time to M.Y. China restaurant under the Dome of the SF Center. The proliferation of inexpensive take out Chinese restaurants in the city sort of makes us rarely go to nice sit down Chinese restaurants.

Though, there are two or three restaurants we've been wanting to try, Mijo and I decided to splurge a little bit on Chinese dining. The food at M.Y. China is high quality and delicious. I am glad we tried it.

Everyday Wine in the City - Chimney Rock 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Tomahawk Vineyard

Chimney Rock - 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Tomahawk VineyardWe spent Christmas Eve at home and Mijo and I shared a Filipino dinner. I've always paired Filipino dinners with white wines, but because of the occasion, we decided to open a very special 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Tomahawk Vineyard by Chimney Rock.

The pairing was superb! This wine is definitely a special wine and a winner to us.

Bell Ringing in the City - New Year Bell Ringing Ceremony at the Asian Art Museum

Asian Art Museum - NYE Bell Ringing bellMijo and I joined museum members at the Asian Art Museum on New Year's Eve in ringing the year away. It was something that is uplifting at the same time nostalgic.

It is a Japanese tradition so this Filipino guy found the experience quite a novelty. While I feel nostalgic that the holidays are over, I am hopeful for 2014. Happy New Year everyone.
