Parade in the City - SF Gay Pride

SFPride 2012San Francisco celebrated yet another successful Gay Pride parade on Market St. I wasn't going to see the parade but my friend Joe Tibbs was celebrating his birthday that day by setting up a tent and a spread of food on a table on the sidewalk while cheering on the parade contingents.

I had originally planned of just dropping by to greet my friend a happy birthday and maybe see a few minutes of the parade. The few minutes that I spent watching the parade, I saw a refreshing scene of a new generation of contingents.

Street Food in the City - SoMa StrEAT Food Park

SOMA StreatFood - TrucksMijo was hungry and he wanted to have a late lunch  somewhere where we can sit outdoors.  It was a warm Saturday afternoon and we were both craving for something light, on the cheap and somewhere we haven't been.

I thought of SoMa StEat Food Park right away.  This place rocks!

Everyday Wine in the City - 2008 Palazzo Della Torre by Allegrini

Everyday Wine in the City - Palazzo Della Torre AllegriniLast week, we opened a bottle of 2008 Palazzo Della Torre by Allegrini. Mijo bought this one from the supermarket so I was a little skeptical at first. Skeptical because we didn't taste this one before making the purchase.

The gods of wine must be with Mijo when he bought this bottle because this wine is fabulous. This wine is so full and so rich it felt and tasted very smooth.

Everyday Coffee in the City - Peet's Coffee and Tea's Kona JR Reserve

Coffee in the City - Peets Kona ReserveOnce in a while, I like to splurge on my coffee. To splurge on coffee means to pay more than the usual price per bag of coffee. So last payday I dropped by a Peet's Coffee chain and picked up a Kona JR Reserve Blend.  Kona, afterall, is one of my favorite coffees.

It is true what they say - you get what you pay for.  This coffee may be expensive but this blend is so delicious it is probably one of the best coffees out there!

Art exhibit in the City - The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier at the De Young Museum

Gaultier - De Young Museum
I finally made it to the fashion oriented art exhibit at the De Young Museum entitled The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier - From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk. I thought I was going to overdose but I didn't. In fact, I enjoyed this exhibit immensely.

While being a computer programmer is far from the glamorous walls of the fashion world, I am fascinated with the creative process involved in making and designing clothes the way I am drawn to the ingenuity applied to paintings, sculptures, buildings, modern inventions and, of course, computer programs.

I took photos of the ones that I liked at the exhibit and the ones that intrigued me.

Bakery in the City - Tartine Bakery

Tartine - Half of Frangipane
On Friday morning, Mijo and I decided it was time to give Tartine a visit.  We usually go to our favorite neighborhood Destination Baking Company on Fridays but we realized we haven't been back to Tartine for a while now.

Since we had extra time to spare on Friday morning before going to work, Tartine was the logical choice.  Mijo and I both enjoyed a slow and carefree 30 minute breakfast of Morning Bun, Fragipane Croissant, Gougère and cups of coffee. Delicioso!
