Cocktails in the City - Top of the Mark at the Mark Hopkins Hotel

Top of the Mark - CheersAs a continuation of our search for good and refreshing cocktails in the city, Mijo, Jim, Jose and I paid the Nob Hill neighborhood of the city a visit and went to the Top of the Mark at the Mark Hopkins Hotel.

Mijo and I have been to the Top of the Mark but only for Sunday brunch and never for cocktail hour. That is why we didn't have second thoughts when Jim and Jose suggested we go there for our Thursday night cocktail.

Top of the Mark is an elegant and cozy place for a pre-dinner drinks with good friends.

Top of the Mark - Happy Hour musicThe Top of the Mark is aptly named because it is on the top floor of the Mark Hopkins Hotel. Mijo and I have been there for Sunday Brunch which I jokingly call a King Henry XVIII's breakfast. Anyway, the city views from up there is equally stunning at night as it is during the day. This view reminds me how pretty the city truly is. The hostess checked us in and told us that there was going to be a 10 minute wait. I could here the live band from where we were waiting.

Top of the Mark - Only in the San Francisco Their cocktail menu is long and consists of several pages of drink selections. The good thing is that they listed the ten most popular cocktails on the first page. Since I didn't know what to order, I just picked from that list. I picked Only in San Francisco which is Bailey’s and Stoli Razberi with a Twist. It was refreshing with a good amount of alcohol and flavor not to mention it was pretty to look at. Top of the Mark - Raspberry Pina ColladaMijo orderd their Raspberry Piña Colada which is Smirnoff Raspberry Vodka, Chambord, Coconut Cream and Pineapple Juice. Jim ordered the Azul Cuban which is Malibu Rum, Blue Curaçao, Orange Juice, Pineapple Juice and Coconut. Jose The Surfer which is Ketel One Vodka, Malibu Rum, Banana Liqueur and Pineapple Juice. One sip of each of their drink brought me back to my trips to Waikiki and Miami.

Top of the Mark - AppetizerFor the appetizer, we had potato chips with their special mustard dip. We also sampled their deviled eggs with truffle oil. Delicioso.

This and the cocktails, the music, the crowd and the city views make this venue one of the best in the city for cocktails.
