Film Night in the Park - Dolores Park and Austin Powers

Film Night in the Park - Dolores Park Austin Powers movie ending bw
Summer in the city is busy with activities especially during the weekend and a lot of them are for free. One of our favorites is the Film Night.

We saw ustin Powers: International Man Of Mystery  in June and enjoyed both the movie and the setting. Thank you SFNTF!

The popular Film Night in the Park Outdoor Film series is produced by The San Francisco Neighborhood Theater Foundation (SFNTF).

The movie was scheduled to start when around 8:30 when it starts to get dark enough. Mijo and I got to Dolores around 7pm to stake an area with a good view of the giant outdoor screen. We brought food, drinks, low chairs and layers of extra clothing.

The good thing about California summers is that it rarely rains. The rain usually comes around in November. The only draw back is that Northern California summers cool down a bit at night that is the reason for the extra layers.

Dolores Park is a lovely park for this event. It slopes down like an amphi theatre so technically anywhere you sit is good. This park is also served by the J Muni train line and several Muni buses run on 18th St. so people can come here without having to drive and look for parking.

We literally brought our dinner with some snacks as well. The crowd had the same idea. It was like a big outdoor dinner party with a movie. Great vibe!

This park also has lovely views of downtown both during the day and at night. The movie is free but there were volunteer staff of the SFNTF walking around with a bucket for donations. I noticed that people were more than eager to donate an amount.

We've seen the movie before but that was many years ago. I had forgotten what the movie was about. We had a wonderful and relaxing time watching a free movie in a lovely setting. Thank you SFNTF!
