And the San Francisco Giants have won twice in a span of only three years! And the way they won during the playoff season was super torture but showbiz worthy as if someone has written a script for them.
Congratulations SF Giants and welcome to the best party in baseball.
I watched the 2010 World Series parade and I can tell you that the atmosphere two years ago was more congenial and brotherly. I saw hugs everywhere and I heard personal stories from strangers how the SF Giants bringing the World Series to San Francisco for the first time has touch their lives.
The 2012 parade had a more party spirit and definitely more people who watched the parade.
Here are select pictures I took during the SF Giants parade in San Francisco.
I got to downtown early, around 8:30am. Obviously, these people got here before me.
I got to our meeting place on Market and Fremont Sts. under the 545 Market sign. While waiting, I took photos around and above me. This one shows a Giants flag alongside the Stars and stripes.
I was happy to see people were on actual floats for everyone to see and not on street cars. But this was an hour before that SF Giants started appearing.
It sucks to be short, I know. But I was using my DSLR with my 100mm macro lens. Can I borrow someone else's view? I did!
Yeppers! We are all #1 SF Giants fans.
The fans eagerly await for the start of the parade. This is a sea of black and orange color which is the color of the SF Giants.
This scene reminded me once again that the San Francisco Bay Area is deeply rooted in baseball. By the way, another Bay Area team also made it to the playoffs - the Oakland A's. Congrats Oakland A's!
Earlier that day, I was happy to see the first group of parade contigents were on real parade floats for everyone to see. I incorrectly assumed the SF Giants were going to be on floats as well. Who's idea was it to put them on convertible cars? I think this picture includes the back view of Giants' pitcher Barry Zito.
I think this picture includes the side view of outfielder Marco Scutaro. It was truly a bad bad bad idea to put them on a convertible so short people like me couldn't see much.
This picture includes the side view of closer Sergio Romo.
This picture includes a partial view of catcher Buster Posey.
This picture includes the side view of outfielder Hunter Pence.
This picture includes the side view of reliever Jeremy Affeldt.
Before heading home, I went to the Civic Center where the parade ended and where the actual celebration was happening. Lots of people were there.
Congrats again SF Giants.
