Everyday Wine in the City - Castello Di Amorosa 2009 Sangiovese

Castello Di Amorosa - 2009 Sangiovese Napa ValleyTwo years ago, our friends Bren and Bob, Mijo and I went to Castello Di Amorosa to wine taste. This week, we opened our last bottle of Sangiovese that we bought during our wine tasting there.

This wine is tasty and it went well with our home made meals and snacks. Maybe it is time to go back to Castello di Amorosa to replenish our stock.

We have at least a dozen bottles of red wine down in our stock room but I wanted to open this bottle of Sangiovese because I don't know how much longer we can age this wine. It is funny because I had second  thoughts about opening this bottle since it was our last bottle from our wine tasting at Castello di Amorosa two years ago.

We first opened the bottle to pair with our Friday after work snack of cheeses, prociutto di parma, olives and crostini. The first thing I noticed was the color and the legs it made on the glass. It was a beautiful sight to look at. I can taste a hint of red pepper and cherry.

The following day, Mijo and I decided to eat at home. Mijo put together this simple clam pasta with a simple white sauce and herbs and spices with french baguette and garlic butter.
I tasted hints of oregano and smoke when paired with the pasta. This wine is very versatile.
