Cocktails in the City - Ame Bar at St. Regis

Ame Bar at St. RegisAfter seeing SF MoMA's new art exhibit called Cindy Sherman, Joe, Jim, Mijo and I went next door to St. Regis to try the cocktails at the Ame Bar.

While this is not our typical 2-for-1 neighborhood cocktail hour, the cocktails here are superb and well crafted, the service outstanding and the ambience five star!

Ame Bar at St. Regis - CrowdAme Bar is next to the hotel lobby on the left when you enter through their 3rd St. door. I noticed their stylish fireplace with hot stones right away. At first it looked as though the flames are coming from a hdtv monitor because the place has lowlights. The seating area is big but a lot of them were already occupied though it didn't take a long time for the four of us to find a bigger couch where we can all sit together.

And now for the cocktails we sampled.

Ame Bar at St. Regis - Gilded Vice This is what I had. It is called Gilded Vice. I didn't know what to order so I just picked the first item on the menu. It contains Ron Zacapa 23 yr run, Combier Fruits Rouge, Lemon, EggWhite, Black Pepper. Served up. This is a smooth cocktail and what an explosion of flavors. Not to mention it is pretty to look at.

Ame Bar at St. Regis - Old Man at the SeaMijo picked Old Man at the Sea. It contains Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, Grapefruit Juice, Fresh Lime Juice, Simple Syrup  and Egg White. Served neat.

Ame Bar at St. Regis - Blossom Rock CobblerJoe Tibbs decided to try the Blossom Rock Cobbler which contains muddled seasonal fruit, sake, maraschino liqueur, ginger beer, lemon, over ice. Jim ordered a Japanese beer.

One common characteristic about the cocktails is the consistency. It is not thick but not watered down either. I like the attention to detail. The froth are made of egg whites I think. Lingered at the Ame Bar for a little over an hour. We totally enjoyed and and I think we will be back for more... soon.
