This year, we saw Fleet Week and the Blue Angels' air show from the Aquatic Park in front of Ghirardelli Square. I have absolutely enjoyed watching it. Bonus was seeing parts of the Columbus Day while walking in Fisherman's Wharf.
Mijo and I took BART to the Embarcadero Station and from there we took the F train in front of the Ferry Building to Fisherman's Wharf. While waiting for the F train, we ran into San Francisco Councilman Scott Weiner who was also waiting for the F train.
Mijo and I were going to go to Pier 27 and see the Fleet Week air show from there. However, we learned from the Muni staff directing festival goers that day that the best view is from Aquatic Park in front of Ghirardelli Square. We were going to discover later that day that the friendly Muni staff was right.
On our way to the Aquatic Park, we also saw the Columbus Day parade.
Here's the Fleet Week souvenir shop. The miniature Blue Angels are so cute.
Mijo and I have seen the air show from the Coit Tower, Dolores Park and Ferry Building. This year, following the Muni Staff's suggestion, we saw it from the Aquatic Park. The views were amazing!
Not only the views were sweeping, we also heard the commentaries from the Fleet Week voice overs so we got the scoop who was flying which aircraft and what kind of manuever or stunts the air men was performing. Even though I've seen this event many times, it still gives me the heebie jeebies every time the planes fly close or fly head to head.
On our way back home while walking to connect to BART, I saw the Blue Angels again over the Ferry Building. Amazing show. Thanks, Fleet Week and the Blue Angles!
