Another beautiful place opened last week in the city. This time, it was the Apple Store in San Francisco's Union Square district that we got to check out.
The store is shiny, modern, elegant, lots of natural lighting, clean lines and beautiful building overall. Another jewel of a landmark in San Francisco.
Mijo and I were in the Union Square area last weekend so we decided to drop by the newly opened Apple Store. The old store, which is now vacant, was on Stockton Street near Market St. The newly opened one is across the street from Union Square which is a better location in my opinion.
From the street, the facade's texture looks like the back of a silver iPhone. Shiny silver with a shiny Apple icon. I noticed right away what look like sliding doors and two floors with very high ceilings. In a city like San Francisco where the temperature is always mild, this open air design is perfect. They probably don't need a lot of air-conditioning inside?
Mijo and I got to the front of the store and there were lots of people inside checking out the merchandise, admiring the design, taking pictures, basically just hanging out. Of course, there were also lots of Apple Store staff standing by ready to answer questions.

They kept the same glassy style stairs they used to have in the old store.
Upstairs, there is a huge high definition screen playing advertisements or music. Lots of seating areas as if the designers want me to stay and hang out. The balcony looks out to the square across the street.

I stepped outside in the back and saw this wonderful outdoor area with lots of tables and chairs. It also has a very high living wall.
Another great thing is they kept the Ruth Asawa water fountain.
If the office was nearby, I would go to the store and hangout during lunch hours.
This is another wonderful addition to the long list of wonderful venues and buildings in the city.
