Everyday Wine in the City - Josh Cellars 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon

2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Josh Cellars - BottleMijo bought two bottles of Josh Cellars 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon with the plan of serving it to his relatives when we invited them over for a small barbeque. Let's just say the two bottles were left unopened.

So for two weeks, we've been pairing this wine with our home dinners. This wine is actually good and it even went well with our modest dinners.

Most of the wines we keep in our home have been winery bought. This means we've tasted the wines and we bought them because we liked them. But there are days when we store buy wines. These wines can be a crapshoot. Sometimes good. Most of the times, so-so. However, the gods of wines were with use when we bought these wines because we got lucky. These two bottles of Josh Cellars 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon were store bought.

Here are our pairings.

Mijo made this tasty smoked salmon pasta with capers, tomatoes and parsley and breads from Acme Bread. The wine was not over powering at all. It must be the flavor from the smoked salmon. Or the strong taste from the capers?

Next was this  shrimp soup that Mijo made the following evening. This pairing was not as effective as the first one but the wine did wash away the shrimp taste from our tastebuds.

We opened the second bottle when I made this Filipino style bistek or beef steak. It is really more like a beef stew with the sauce reduced. This was the best pairing so far. The taste of beef, soy sauce and onions compliments the fruit flavor of the wine.

We finished the second bottle with this simple eggplant dinner I made.
Another pairing that went well. I grilled the eggplant before I mixed it with the chinese sausage and soy sauce, ginger, onion and garlic sauce.
