We went for their Library Tasting and it was such a treat. Not only are their wines elegant, the entire wine tasting experience was absolutely enjoyable and one of a kind.
Thank you Jordan Vineyard and Winery for the unforgettable hospitality!
Our friends Bob and Bren are back in town for their annual summer vacation in the Bay to visit family and friends. Instead of our usual Napa excursion, we went to Sonoma this time.
We got to Jordan Vineyard and Winery a little after 9:50 am for our 10am Library Tasting appointment. We were greeted by this massive estate that gave us a French chateau feel rather than a Sonoma Country barn feel.
Their quaint courtyard is equally stunning. If not for our 10am appointment, I would have lingered at the courtyard a bit.
The lobby has this very formal and professional but welcoming atmosphere. Solid dark wood panels and low lights. I did get a whiff of wine scent as soon as I got in. Their Guest Services Associate Carlie greeted and welcomed us. There was already a couple waiting at the lobby when we got inside.
When all the guests have arrived after a few minutes, we were ushered upstairs for the Library Tasting. The upstairs room is lovely with wood panels, spacious, high ceilings and lots of natural lighting. In the middles is a beautiful table scape with a bottle of Chardonnay, empty wine glasses and bowls with food in it. Everything has been prepped ahead of time so this is probably the reason why tasting is by appointment only.
We started with their 2015 Chardonnay Russian River Valley while Carrie shared the history of Jordan Vineyard and Winery. I learned that the winery focuses on Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon wines so they can do it well.
The pairing is a seafood with kale miso vinaigrette and a tofu version for folks with special dietary requirements.
Chardonnay is crisp and refreshing with hints of vanilla. It was a very good Chardonnay and it went very well with the miso pairing.
Here's a closer look at the seafood pairing. It was delicious! It was too pretty to eat so I took my time savoring the subtle flavors in it. Smoky, salty, earthy, fishy. Lots of flavors in such a small serving.
We were then asked to go through a secret door that leads to the next tasting. I was starting to love the attentiveness and the personalized feel to the tasting. I also like that we took our time during tasting.
The secret room has low lights and has this long table that seats 12. Everything was already set when we got there. We were going to sample their 2009, 2011 and 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon with their prepared cheese, olive oil and bread pairings.
Here's a closer look at the cheese pairing.
From left to right: Bellwether Farms San Andreas Sonoma, Cypress Grove Midnight Moon Holland, Keen's Cheddar England, Beecher's Flagship Seattle. The cheeses vary in texture, creaminess, and flavor. I think the olive oil is produced by Jordan Vineyard and Winery.

Their Cabernet Sauvignons are very good with varying tannin and fruit levels. We first tasted their 2009. Then their 2011 and then their 2013. The pairing went so well with their wines.
In the end, we decided to get their 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley Sonoma County to bring home with us.
Thank you Carlie and Jordan Vineyard and Winery for such a wonderful wine tasting experience!
