We went back to Rodney Strong Vineyards to wine taste. We were here for the first time four years ago and we loved it.
Same great wines, same friendly and attentive service. We love Rodney Strong Vineyards.
We went to Rodney Strong after our wonderful tasting at Jordan. Our friend Bob is a wine club member at Rodney Strong Vineyards and as a member he gets complimentary tastings for him and including me and Mijo.
Before going in, we had time to check out the vineyard outside to admire the ripening grapes hanging on the vine. It was a thing of beauty. Pretty soon these grapes will be harvested and crushed and saved in barrels to age and then bottled for oenophiles to enjoy. Looking at these grapes reminded me that wines are really a produce and not something made out of a recipe to make it taste the same each year. This is one of the reasons I love wines.
Now for the wine tasting...
We got there around 11:30ish on a Wednesday but the tasting room was busy already. Bob chose the Reserve and Single Vineyards tasting . These are all great wines. We skipped the Chardonnay from the tasting. The tasting included their 2014 Reserve Chardonnay Russian River Valley, 2014 Reserve Pinot Noir Russian River Valley, 2013 Reserve Malbec Sonoma County, 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley, 2013 Symmetry Red Meritage Alexander Valley, 2013 Brothers Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley,
2013 Alexander's Crown Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley,
and 2013 Rockaway Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley.
It was difficult to make a decision which wines to take home with us because they are great wines. We even had to ask for an extra pour just to make sure which ones we truly love. In the end, we ended up taking a bottle of their 2014 Reserve Pinot Noir Russian River Valley and 2013 Brothers Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley.
Rodney Strong has become one of our favorite wines and favorite place to taste wines. We'll definitely be back.
