Everyday Wine in the City - 2013 Estate Pinot Noir by Merriam Vineyards

Merriam Vineyards - 2013 Estate Pinor Noir RRVWe opened this 2013 Estate Pinot Noir Russian River Valley by Merriam Vineyards and paired it with our one of our meals and Friday happy hour at home.

This award winning wine is fresh tasting with a hint of spice and herbs.  A bottle of wine usually lasts up to three to four dinners but this didn't last long. We really liked this wine.

Mijo just got back from his vacation and to celebrate his home coming, I opened this 2013 Estate Pinot Noir RRV by Merriam Vineyards. I remember we tasted this wine during our first trip to Merriam Vineyards last year.

Though we didn't pick this during our first visit at the winery, we got it as part of our October wine club shipment which we picked up a month ago at the winery.

I first tasted this wine as it is and it was crisp and light the way I like my Pinots.

We first paired this wine with a crab casserole dinner with asparagus and spanish rice. The pairing brought more spice out of the wine. It is probably the paprika in casserole or the earthy flavors of the aspargus. I was happy with how well this wine paired well with this dinner.

After two days, Mijo made a homemade bruschetta and I bought some olives, tomatoes and mozzarella and some dolmas. The tanginess of the tomatoes and dolmas brought some cherry hints out of the wine. I love how this wine evolves with the food pairings.
