Mijo and I love this wine. The weather was warmer than usual for a San Francisco summer and this wine proved to be a tasty treat for us.
I remember Mijo and I loved our visit at Rodney Strong Vineyards. The service was very friendly and knowledgeable about wines and their wines are top notch. Everytime I go to the supermarket or wine merchants and see some Rodney Strong bottles, they always take me back to our wine tasting experience in Sonoma two years ago.
This week, we are sampling a Rodney Strong 2010 Reserve Pinot Noir. Since we tasted this wine before we purchased it, we knew we were going to like it when we opened it. Mijo prepared a home made bruschetta while I toasted some sliced ciabatta breads on a hot iron cast grill. The wine went well with the fresh bruschetta made from tomatoes we bought at the farmer's market. The garlic and the salt and pepper brought out the fruits out of the wine. It was such a burst of flavors!
After a couple of days, we decided to finish the bottle and paired it with food from a local Spanish restaurant called Esperpento. The garlicky gambas and super tasty croquettes were perfect pairing with this well balanced Pinot Noir.
Here are my notes.
