This winery has one of the most relaxed settings for wine tasting. Their wines are truly flavorful, truly Napa Valley.
From Chimney Rock, we went to Frog's Leap next. There were already people buying and tasting wines when we got there so I was a little relieved that we are not that early to get to Frog's Leap the way we were at Chimney Rock. We don't want to get a reputation, you know.
Frog's Leap's tasting room is located in what they call a Vineyard House in the middle of Frog's Farm. In fact, Frog's Farm itself is in the middle of a vineyard in Rutherford in Napa Valley.
When you go in to the Vineyard House, you'll be greeted right away with a homey feel. They have a cozy living room and a formal dining area. We were led by our host to a lovely garden. The weather that day was incredible so seating outside was the perfect choice.
Mijo, Bob and I decided to get that Day's Wine Flight. Bren was our designated driver.
Their Today's Wine Flight consisted of 2011 Frog's Leap Chardonnay, 2011 Frog's Leap Zinfandel, 2010 Frog's Leap Cabernet Sauvignon, 2011 Frog's Leap Petite Sirah. The first three have a Napa Valley Appelation. The last one is Rutherford. I am not really familiar with the difference in micro climates and soil classification between the two appellation otherthan Rutherford is a sub appelation of Napa Valley.
I truly like all their wines but I only have a budget for one bottle. Since I am also a sucker for Zinfandel, I decided to get the Zinfandel which gave me hints of cherry and spices.
The winery also sells accessories for the wine lovers.
They also have sauces and jams for the foodies.
Frog's Farm has a little map in their brochure which features a 'walk around' the area. There's a crush pad area, vegetable garden, a secret garden, a red barn, a barrel chai, and many more. I'll definitely try their walking self tour the next time I visit their winery.
Frog's Leap is on Conn Creek Road in Rutherford, California.
